Introduction
We are legally required to carry out a review of whether the Local Plan for Bolsover District and its evidence base remain up-to-date within five years of the Local Plan being adopted, which means this needs to be completed by March 2025.
Local Plan Review timetable
There is a significant amount of work involved in carrying out the review, particularly the commissioning of updated evidence base documents to ensure the Council understands where the policies and proposals of the Local Plan for Bolsover District might need revising or adding to.
As a result, our Local Plan review process commenced in October 2023 and will involve the following two broad steps:
Step 1 will involve:
- ‘Fact finding’ to enable the Council to keep under review the matters which may be expected to affect the development of Bolsover District or the planning of its development;
- A review of new national policy areas will also be carried out to ensure the Council’s Local Plan addresses all important policy areas.
It is likely that this step will take at least six-months to carry out.
Step 2 will involve:
-
responding to this updated evidence to consider which factors might lead to necessary revisions to the Local Plan, such as higher targets for housing and employment land needs.
This step will need to be completed before March 2025.
