We consider each planning application on its own merits. Once we receive an application, it is assigned to a case officer and consultation can begin.
A site visit will be carried out by the case officer who will assess the proposals. If changes are needed, the case officer will discuss these with the applicant or their agent.
The decision
We will then consider all the information from the application - along with any possible comments received from those involved in the consultation period - before reaching a recommendation on whether planning permission will be granted or not.
- Decisions on most applications are usually made within 6-8 weeks.
A decision on the majority of applications is made by planning officers, however some applications are decided by the planning committee which meets regularly to discuss and decide on applications. These meetings are open to the public and held in the council Chamber at our offices in Clowne.
