BatteriesHousehold appliance batteries (to be placed in a securely tied clear bag on top of your burgundy bin lid. Please DO NOT tie the bag to your bin handle.)Elements in batteries are extremely hazardous to both the environment and human health and are able to permeate into the ground soil and thus water supplies when they are placed into landfill. For this reason, placing them in your normal household bin is not safe. It is essential we don’t mix them with other combustible waste as batteries can generate a heat source and present a fire risk in the collection vehicle or sorting process.
