Residents of Blackwell parish have been busy knitting, crocheting and looming over 7,000 poppies to creative their own yarn version of ‘Blood swept Lands and Seas of Red’ inspired by the iconic poppy installation by Paul Cummings.
The project started around ten-months ago with a self-guided ‘crochet poppy pack’ designed by young Westhouses resident Izzy Stocks for people to learn how to crochet and make poppies at home.
The concept quickly grew and the poppies will be on display at St Werbergh's Church in Old Blackwell on Saturday 9 November 2024 between 10am and 2pm.
Bolsover TV (opens in a new window) went to speak to some of those involved to see how it is progressing.
