As the weather starts to turn, you may be thinking of turning your heating on or up.
But with the increase in energy prices (the Price Cap rose by 10% on 1 October), you may be thinking twice! Well we may have a solution that can help you.
Turning down the flow temperature on your combi boiler to 60°c or below can knock £££ off your heating bill each year and reduce energy waste from your home.
The Money Saving Boiler Challenge (opens in a new window) aims to help over one million households change their combi boiler settings to save energy over the winter.
How much can households save?
The campaign helps households save money by lowering the flow temperature on their condensing combi boilers to 60°C. Evidence suggests that households could save about 9% on their total gas bill by doing this, assuming their flow temperature is currently set at 80°C.
For a medium-sized household with an annual gas consumption of 12,000 kWh, this would save 1,092 kWh of gas per year, which in the winter of 22/23 equated to a saving of £112 annually.
The campaign has been backed by all the energy companies and energy advice organisations and Martin Lewis (Moneysaving expert (opens in a new window)) has also championed the campaign.
