A grant funded project which aims to improve the condition and appearance of shop fronts in Shirebrook Town Centre has been extended due to interest in the scheme.
The grant funding is available to shop owners and tenants and could fund up to £20,000 towards the replacement of shop fronts for independent commercial properties located in the Market Place with the aim of improving the visual appearance and encourage more people to shop locally.
As well as new shop fronts, the scheme can also contribute towards additional works such as rendering, new signage and awnings, scaffolding and professional fees (e.g. architects, surveyors). The scheme has already been a success with several businesses taking advantage in the investment in their property.
It was due to end in December 2023, however, due to its popularity and recent interest from businesses in the town, the scheme has been extended to allow for more shop fronts to benefit from improvements.
A maximum grant of £20,000 (contributing up to 80% of the project cost) is available for improvement works and associated professional fees.
Bolsover TV (opens in a new window) asked Councillor John Ritchie why schemes like this are so important for the town.
