Community Woodlands

The community woodlands project works together with our communities to increase, improve and link up Bolsover District’s trees, woodlands and hedges to benefit wildlife and help people get more from their green spaces.

Together with the Woodland Trust Emergency Tree Fund, we help fund this and aim to give everyone the opportunity to improve their physical and mental health through access to high quality local treescapes and related community activities.

Please read our latest community woodland project newsletter issue two for more information.

Projects

Our projects include a flagship community woodland covering over 20-hectares in Creswell, community orchards and urban and semi-urban tree plantings.

How to join in

If you would like to get involved in any of these projects, please register to volunteer (opens in a new window) with us or join one of our task days.

We will be offering sessions in on site preparation, tree planting and aftercare. Once you have signed up, we will keep you informed as activities are arranged.

We also invite families and organised leisure and workforce groups to come and join us for a half or full day woodland creation experience; developing team building and resilience skills and connecting with nature on one of our beautiful Derbyshire sites. Call now to arrange your group experience day.

There may be additional opportunities for volunteers who are able to make a regular commitment to the project. Tasks could include helping with the creation of local projects by assisting with the planning and organising and helping deliver community events, including task days.
