We are investing £200,000 into providing CCTV across the District.
The initial 12-month trial will see a central CCTV monitoring suite established, along with cameras installed at the Council’s six independent Living Schemes in Creswell, Shirebrook, Hillstown, Blackwell, Pinxton and Clowne.
In addition, three fixed cameras and six re-deployable cameras will be made available across the District to help us target known vulnerable areas, provide support to the emergency services and reassurance to the public.
Council Leader, Councillor Steve Fritchley said, “Bolsover District is a relatively safe place to live and visit. But we want to provide that extra reassurance to our residents that we are doing everything we can to keep them safe and this is shown through our commitment in heavily investing in this new CCTV suite.
“Our Enforcement Team do a great job looking after the vulnerable and elderly, but we wanted to expand upon this and use all the tools at our disposable so we can help combat any crime or disorder in the area.
“This new CCTV suite will not only act as a deterrent but a device that we can deploy to known hot-spots and target any would-be offenders.”
Parish and Town Council’s will also be invited to subscribe to the CCTV monitoring suite service and enable any existing CCTV camera’s to be linked to and monitored by the new suite.
The initial 12-month trial will be constantly monitored to ensure it is providing good value and a further report to Council will be submitted to decide whether the system should be permanently installed.
This new CCTV suite is in addition to a £60k grant the Council received from the Safer Streets Fund to purchase a new overt CCTV van that will patrol the District. The van will be used as a deterrent against anti-social behaviour, promote cohesive communities, reassure local communities and allow for information and intelligence to be shared across the area.
