We designated the Markland and Hollinhill Grips Conservation Area (2.57MB) on the 10th July 1991. An amendment to the boundary of the conservation area was approved in April 2009, the effect of which was to exclude the Clowne sewage treatment works from the Markland and Hollinhill Grips Conservation Area.
The Markland and Hollinhill Grips Conservation Area is recognised as an area with special architectural, historic, archaeological, geological and natural history interest the character and appearance of which it is desirable to both preserve and enhance.
We have prepared a Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan (955kb) for the area.
The document defines the special character and appearance of the area by assessing the architectural, historic, archaeological, geological and natural history interest and provides guidance on the implementation of certain saved policies in the Bolsover District Local Plan and formulates management proposals for the preservation and enhancement of the Markland and Hollinhill Grips Conservation Area.
The implementation of the management of the conservation area is set out in our Historic Environment Scheme.
